A seven day tour of Western Crete for road cyclists, who enjoy endurance events of the highest caliber taking in breathtaking coastal climbs from the golden beaches of Western Crete into the high and magnificent beauty of the Lefka Ori. Proposed Itinerary:
Day
One - Arrive and local
orientation – gentle rolling
40km ride taking in local amenities
and beauty spots – the town
of Georgopolis, Kournas Lake, local
beaches and tavernas.
Total Cycling Mileage – 40km
Day Two - West is Best - Kissamos to Elafonisi – a 95km cycle exploring the far west of Crete. A 50km rolling climb into the foothills of the White Mountains takes in the Topolia Gorge and many old Cretan villages before the 18km descent to one of the most famous beauty spots of the island – the lagoons of Elafonisi. Transport to and from the start/finish of the cycle is provided.

Day Three – Mount Ida – A shorter stunning ride up to the peak of Mount Ida and the birthplace of Zeus

Day Four - Zouvra

Day Five - Kallimera Kallikratis – a monster of a cycle through lush mountain valleys climbing into the high mountains, visiting desrted villages before plunging down to the Libyan Sea. Visit the Venetian castle of Francocastello – swim in the turquoise waters before climbing once again through the Kallikratano Gorge and back through the mountain passes to the north side.

Day Six – Ombrosgialos - a short hilly day of climbing and descending to local beauty spots finishing the weeks’ rides with a drink at a remote coastal taverna.
Total Cycling Mileage – 55km
Day Seven – The rest day can be placed anywhere in the week and can be spent at a place of choice: Samaria Gorge/Scuba Diving/City of Chania/Local beaches/Local tavernas!
Day Eight – Depart for airport
